THE HOOVER DAM/NEWLY RE-CONSTRUCTED 2/19/2022

**************************************

there was dirt in her mouth

I put it there

to block the words she said

then added water to make the dirt settle in

and make a seal

a dam re-constructed

to prevent her from saying anymore

and might say

battering her with lightning blows

with an unexpected force

I didn't know I had

the expression of it now

lit by a flame a growing ferocity

fueled by the long suppression of it....

sometimes a bully comes to rue the day

and ought to have remained at home

sometimes the weak rally and overrun

I towered over her

my two small arms flexing

the taste of rusty blood in my mouth

where I bit my tongue

am I unable to shake this new relief in me

or I have won at last

or have I

lost something more?
